What is the difference between the DPI-10 / DPI-10SR and the DPI-X / DPI-XSR? |
The DP-calibrated cameras built into each of these devices are the same (10/X = Carmine 1.08 and 10SR/XSR = Carmine 1.09), however these two sets of kits are still different in other ways. Please see below for images and further explanation
The DPI-10 (2-12 ft range) and DPI-10SR (1-6 ft range) are our flagship complete handheld 3D scanning kits. These kits are only compatible Microsoft Surface Go 2 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 tablets, which secure snugly into the complete dual-grip housing as shown below. Their DP-calibrated PrimeSense Carmine 3D cameras are also fully embedded into this dual-grip housing, and a rugged carrying case is included with every kit.

The DPI-X (2-12 ft range) and DPI-XSR (1-6 ft range) are smaller, mountable versions of the same calibrated cameras that are built into the DPI-10 / DPI-10SR. This allows them to be mounted to a much wider range of supported tablets/phones, but sacrifices the complete, rugged nature of the DPI-10 / DPI-10SR. No rugged carrying case is provided with the DPI-X / DPI-XSR. A soft, protective nylon case is included, but the tablet and other accessories must be stored separately.
All 4 kits are also compatible with the DPI Light Kit, DPI Extension Kit, and Intel RealSense mounting. Tablets and software are also sold separately for all 4 kits. The price of the DPI-X / DPI-XSR is significantly lower than the DPI-10 / DPI-10SR.
